[Back to previous page] Case Finish Information And Slight Second OfferWith hand-made or hand-finished parts, which includes all our casework, there are bound to be some slight imperfections due to the many stages of handling. After all, we concentrate on the sound because that is where our reputation is. The experienced eye is the final arbiter and our engineers reject casework beyond a certain number of imperfections - it ensures you get the feel of quality when you buy one of our products. It also means that by the end of the year, we have a collection of what we term "slight-second" cases. Rather than committing them all to carbon energy-consuming recycling (melting them down), we thought some of our customers would be happy to receive one of our products with a slight-second reduction?
Case style K: (case style K is used on the Solo headphone amplifier and similarly cased products - not the Novo which is style G) Slight-second reduction: £40 excluding VAT
(case style U is used on the Gram Amp 3 Fanfare and similarly cased products) £25 excluding VAT All other cases Gram Amp 2 Communicator, Novo, Voyager, PSU1. £20 excluding VAT What are the slight imperfections? The following photos give an approximate idea of the imperfection levels that either pass or fail inspection. Plastic cased products can exhibit similar imperfections but are not pictured here.
Generally, borderline imperfections are moved to the slight-second category. Imperfections on "Perfects" are only allowed where hardly-visible and there are very few or are on the rear or bottom of the product. A slight-second will have a number of the imperfections similar to those shown in the right hand column above. Please note: These cases are not available to purchase separately.

Award Winning Audio Components
IMPORTANT: Before You Buy, Consider... Miracles? Although our products win awards for their miraculous performance, it has to be said that they can only do miracles with a good signal source. They cannot magically improve something that isn't. If you have been led to believe they can, please think again before buying. Running In? High performance products, which these are, will not perform at their best until they have been powered up a number of weeks. During this "burn-in" or "pre-ageing" period they will undergo sonic changes - eventually settling to their best performance. The subject of "pre-ageing" is well documented by electronic component manufacturers but often denied by some hi-fi manufacturers. |
