Although in place
throughout the rest of the EC, the UK Parliament has yet to make its mind up
about how it implements the EC WEEE directive, although it is now law
throughout the European Community of which the UK is part???
We are obliged to operate a TAKE-BACK scheme or to pay a National Clearing
House to distribute funds on our behalf for the recycling of our products at
the end of their life within EC countries (which may be way past our own
lifetimes).
However, in the UK, that National Clearing House does not yet exist.
Therefore, how we comply with EC law in the UK is a complete mystery?
What you or a future EC resident owner should do if this product reaches the
end of its useful life while this directive is in force, is not to put it in
your household rubbish, but after checking we are still here and at this
address, send it back to us so we can ensure it is properly recycled.
We do hope we have made this clear? The UK Parliament have at time of
writing definitely not!
